The best way to develop you own style is to make your own presets!
Making your own presents goes a long way in developing your own style. You learn how to edit photos. What works and what doesn’t. You learn how to develop your own unique look! Adjusting highlights, shadows, color, tones, gradients, etc have a profound impact on the way your photos are perceived. Making my own presets has taught me everything I know about photo editing. I do my best to get the photo the way I want it in camera, but the photo ALWAYS pops in Adobe Lightroom. Take, for instance, the photos below. They were edited with the exact same reset I made.
But don’t filters do the same thing. Well, yes and no. They accomplish the same result, but anyone can choose Clarendon, Gingham, Moon, Lark, Reyes, Juno, etc. from the list of Instagram filters and develop their style, but presets are unique to you. In a pinch, filters can work, but if you want a better understanding of your style, making your own presets are the way to go!
